Business Headshots

A corporate headshot projects an image that best allows the person viewing that image to connect with you.  Your eyes and face are the main attraction, and we want to minimize distractions.  Therefore:

DON’T:

  • Wear bright colors or patterns
  • Wear plaid.  Not only does it draw attention from the sitter’s face, but it causes the camera’s digital sensors to have a difficult time rendering the overall image
  • Get a new haircut right before the shoot—either allow time for a fresh cut to grow-in or allow for time to practice styling a new look.
  • Wear “chunky” or distracting jewellery
  • Wear anything that would distract from the eyes or face

DO:

  • Opt for solid colors of neutral or darker tones (consider black/charcoal/navy)
  • Layer.  Layers generally look good.
  • Wear long sleeves, even if you are trying to convey a casual vibe.  A bit of arm poking out can be distracting

GENERAL TIPS:

  • If you want a clean-shaven look, shave prior to the session.  Also, consider that now may be a good time to switch to a new blade.  If your session isn’t until the late afternoon, consider shaving at lunch.
  • If bearded, consider scheduling a trip to your barber the day before for a trim
  • If you wear cosmetics, wear normal daytime make-up perhaps with slightly more foundation than usual.  Liquid foundations photograph slightly better than powder foundations, and mineral cosmetics can appear shiny.
  • Those with long hair, consider washing your tresses the day before of the shoot.
  • If you color gray hair. Consider coloring the eve of the day before the shoot.  That will allow time for any color stains on your skin to disappear.
  • Don't forget your nails!
  • Drink plenty of water and get as much sleep as possible the night before the shoot
  • If you wear glasses, be sure to bring them.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

Relax and be yourself!  We want your authentic personality to shine through!
